Twenty-five years ago this morning, the world America knew ended in ninety minutes.
The towers fell. The map was redrawn. And a whole generation grew up inside the order that came after; one nation at the center, one currency holding it all together, one set of rules everyone was expected to follow.
That order is coming apart now.
Not in ninety minutes. In plain sight. On a Friday like this one.
Here’s what’s actually moving.
One: the bloc.
Tomorrow morning, eleven nations gather in New Delhi for the 18th BRICS Summit, hosted by India on September 12–13. This isn’t the BRICS of a decade ago. The bloc now runs eleven full members; the original five plus Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia and more than 30 more countries are in the queue.
Look who’s already in the room. Russia’s president landed in New Delhi this morning. China’s president, his attendance confirmed by Beijing just yesterday, arrives for his first visit to India in nearly seven years. And Iran’s president will sit at that same table: a nation at open war with the United States this very week, seated inside the bloc that is building the alternative to it. Read that twice.
Watch what they’re building, and watch what they’re not. Under India’s chairship, BRICS is piloting a payment framework that lets members settle trade in their own currencies; explicitly sidestepping a common BRICS currency. There is no “BRICS dollar-killer.” India’s own foreign minister has said plainly that his country has no policy to replace the dollar. The real story is smaller than the panic and bigger than the deniers admit: not a coup, a slow decoupling.
Two: the dollar.
The dollar is still king. It made up about 57% of the world’s identifiable foreign-exchange reserves in early 2026, down from roughly 71% in 2000.
A currency like ours doesn’t fall off a cliff.
It erodes.
Grain by grain.
And the men who run the world’s central banks are quietly voting with their vaults: record gold buying is now a defining feature of the landscape. Washington sees it. President Trump has warned of 100% tariffs on any nation that moves to bypass the dollar. You don’t threaten what isn’t slipping.
Three: the war.
And beneath the money, there is blood. American and Iranian forces are trading fire across the Gulf again this month.
This week alone, U.S. Central Command destroyed five Iranian oil tankers after attempted strikes on a U.S. Navy warship; Iran answered with a barrage of ballistic missiles at a U.S. base in Jordan: eighteen of twenty intercepted, no casualties. The Houthis struck Saudi oil facilities. The Saudis struck back.
The Strait of Hormuz, where a fifth of the world’s oil passes, is the pressure point, and every time it tightens, the price you pay for gas moves with it. Into that fracture, another power is stepping. China’s president stood in Egypt this week and called on the region to throw off “outside interference” and build a new security order, then boarded a plane for India.
What Scripture says about a shifting world
Daniel watched empires rise and fall from inside the palace of the one that ruled him. And this is what God gave him to say:
“He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings.” Daniel 2:21
Every kingdom on that summit stage tomorrow sits under that verse. So does ours.
And when His own disciples asked what the end of an age would look like, Jesus didn’t hand them a panic button. He handed them a posture:
“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars… see that you are not alarmed.” Matthew 24:6
Read that again. Not “pretend it isn’t happening.” Not “run screaming through the streets.” See that you are not alarmed.
Scripture doesn’t hand us a calendar; it hands us a posture. Eyes open. Heart planted. And the King’s heart, and every king’s heart, still “a stream of water in the hand of the Lord” (Proverbs 21:1).
What it means for your house
You can’t move the Strait of Hormuz. You can order your own household.
Here’s where a watchman starts:
Read the trend, not the tribe. Don’t tell yourself nothing’s happening. Don’t tell yourself it collapses next week. Watch the reserve numbers, the gold flows, the tariff fights. The truth is in the trend line, and the trend line is patient.
Get free of the servant’s chain. We said it in “The Borrower Is Servant”. Proverbs 22:7 isn’t a metaphor. Debt is exposure. Bondage. In a shaking economy, the household carrying the least of it stands the steadiest. Start there.
Ask what you’re depending on. One currency, one grid, one system; that’s fragility. Diversity is good. Biblical stewardship has always meant not putting every seed in one field. (We go deep on this in a few weeks.)
Verify before you forward. In a realigning world, the lie travels first and fast and the correction never catches up.
Slow down.
Check the source.
Be the person your circle trusts because you’re the one who checks.
Pray specific. For the men and women deployed in the Gulf tonight. For restraint in the Strait. For wisdom in leaders whose hearts are still in God’s hand. For a nation that forgot its foundation to remember it.
Build something real. Neighbors. Skills. Your local church. Empires are fragile. The body of Christ has outlived every one that ever tried to bury it.

Who wrote that there would be a time in his society when there would be people who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Does that sound like any society we know today?
That was written in the 8th century BCE by the prophet Isaiah as a warning to Israel when they had chosen to abandon God’s moral laws and go back to their idols. Isaiah chapter 5 lists six prominent woes directed at the social injustices and moral decay of Israel and Judah. Each "woe" acts as a divine warning against specific and morally destructive behaviors.
The feeling of union and "One Nation under God" after 9/11 was measurable: church attendance soared, President Bush's approval ratings set records. American flags flying in front of homes where they never flew before. Record numbers of Americans turning out to vote. Young men and women volunteering for military service in numbers not seen since WWII.
And then...
the fundamental transformation began. We started hearing that America was bad; systemically racist. An oppressive colonial power. "One Nation under God" labeled as "Christian Nationalism", an attempt to equate it with Fascist nationalism.
We heard a new term: Social Justice. A term not heard since Mussolini promised the Italian people that Fascism would deliver them Social Justice. God's word makes it clear: there is only justice and injustice. Mussolini would agree with the murder of Charlie Kirk because he said: "We do not argue with those who disagree with us, we destroy them".
Hatred and evil overtook American society by 2008. Moral decay being shoved in our faces every time we turned on the TV or opened our internet browsers. Christian church attendance tanked and Islam became the fastest growing religion in the world. Twenty five years after Muslim terrorists crashed airliners into the twin towers in NYC, they elect a Muslim mayor with the help of many NYC Jews. Evil being turned to good.
The Judeo-Christian foundation of America's culture that built the freest and most prosperous nation in history has become subverted and perverted and twisted into a weak mockery giving off the tell-tale stench of a declining empire. Are we entering into the last days?
Yes, keep the watch. Stay sourced, sober, and anchored to something older than any world order. Our God and His word. Don't second guess Yahweh - just keep our eyes on the prize of everlasting life with our Lord Yeshua. He is "the way and the truth and the life".
